This report provides an overview of local and municipal fire departments in the United States. The analysis includes firefighters, fire departments, apparatus and stations. The results are based on data collected during the NFPA Survey of Fire Departments for US Fire Experience During and the NFPA Fire Service Survey where the data was.   I can do % grades while in second gear at 15km/hr (10mph) and I will need to go in first gear at less than 5km/hr (3mph) for any grade higher than that. I adjust my speed to keep the truck from working too hard not adjust the work the truck is doing to keep up to speed. This prevents the transmission from being destroyed.

My old truck gets a lot of use going low speed up a steep mountain where I live, requiring it to engage very effectively at low RPM and high engine heat output. Before I replaced the fan clutch, turning the the air conditioning on would actually make my truck run cooler by locking the fan on at stop lights and going up hill. Finally I have a copy of a wonderful booklet Mountaineering in the Rocky Mountain National Park, compiled by Roger W. Toll, a charter member of the Colorado Mountain Club and superintendent of RMNP (mentioned below). The book was published in paperback in by the Government Printing Office in Washington.

Grades: uphill and down In North America, gradient is expressed in terms of the number of feet of rise per feet of horizontal distance. Two examples: if a track rises 1 foot over a distance of feet, the gradient is said to be "1 percent;" a rise of 2 and-a-half feet would be a grade of " percent.".

The geometric design of roads is the branch of highway engineering concerned with the positioning of the physical elements of the roadway according to standards and constraints.

The basic objectives in geometric design are to optimize efficiency and safety while minimizing cost and environmental damage. Geometric design also affects an emerging fifth objective called "livability," which is.
